Key Factors When Creating A Logo

Updated: May 21, 2021

  • YOUR LOGO Should be A reflection of your brand, suitable for your audience and grab their attention.

  • KEEP IT SIMPLE and original. Don’t give in to the cliches of the Industry that you're in. Just because you're a makeup artist doesn’t mean you have to have makeup brushes in your logo. Avoid being generic, you want your logo to be simple (printable), timeless and always remembered.

  • AVOID hard to read fonts, heavy shadowing and glow effects. Your logo should be SCALABLE, it should be able to be scaled down or up and still look good.

  • DO NOT COPY OTHER DESIGNERS WORK, theres a fine line between inspiration and plagiarism.

There are several logo types and each one plays a huge role in branding.

  • Your main logo should be created with inverted colors (black & white) so that it can be used on light or dark backgrounds

  • Your logo design should include a favicon (website icon)

  • Your logo design should come with a secondary logo, a more simpler version of your primary logo

These are just a few logo types and depending on the client they might not want them all but as a designer you should understand the importance of different logo types and cater to your clients needs. When the work is complete the client should be receiving roughly 20-30 files (give or take).

  • PNG (transparent file)

  • JPG file – compressed file size when smaller uploads are needed

  • SVG file – scalable vector file

  • PDF file – editable file

  • EPS file – this file is needed for printing

There are so many other elements to logo designs these are just a few, so take into consideration when you're paying someone $10 vs $200 to design a logo for you.
